EVOKING FIRE ENERGY WITH MOIRE

We were able to make the most of a modest public art budget for our client, by integrating the artwork into the building elements. As the architects had specified a double-glazed facade we used this to print on both panes of glass to create an impressive and dynamic public artwork whilst adding value and reducing the building’s carbon footprint that would have otherwise occurred with a freestanding artwork.

Fire Vita 1 expresses fire as an energetic and dynamic force that moves across the landscape. The graphic representation is portrayed with energy and vibrational rhythm which undulates in density. From a distance, the graphic more clearly evokes a fire front, flames or smoke. Whilst close-up the graphic expresses this energy more abstractly. By utilising the clear double glazing to duplicate the graphic a moiré effect is created, particularly as one moves around the work, to further reinforce the vitality of fire.
